As CEO of Blue Valley Advisors, LLC, Teresa advises companies, government agencies and other endeavors on vision, strategy, operations, and public affairs.
Teresa currently serves on the Board of Directors for NiSource, Inc. (NYSE:NI) a Fortune 500 energy holding company that provides storage and transmission for natural gas and electricity. She serves on the Finance Committee, Corporate Governance Committee and Officer Nomination and Compensation Committee.
Teresa also serves on the Board Of Directors for First Interstate BancSystem, Inc. (Nasdaq:FIBK) a financial services holding company, headquartered in Billings Montana with $7.3 billion in assets. She serves on the Executive Committee, the Technology Committee and the Compensation Committee.
COO of Fortune 200 Company
In 2009 , Teresa was named Chief Operating Office of Qwest; a $12 billion national media and telecommunications company headquartered in Denver, Colorado. She directed the strategy and daily operations of 30,000 people in field support, technical development, sales, marketing, customer support, and IT systems in India and the United States. Teresa was responsible for the strategic planning and execution of serving consumer, wholesale, small business, and large business customers; including the federal government. She represented the company in public and community venues as well as with Wall Street and investors. During her tenor she returned 58% growth in stock performance and outperformed all peers.
Teresa currently holds high-level United States Government security clearances with Defense and Intelligence agencies.
In 2011, Teresa led the telecom giant through an acquisition, facilitating the $20 billion process and navigating the complexities of a large corporate merger.
Prior to this role, Teresa was executive vice president of the Business Markets Group. In this role, she oversaw the sales, marketing and delivery of voice and data communications services to Qwest’s business and government customers. Teresa grew revenue while significantly increasing the operating margin of the business unit.
Previously, Teresa served as Qwest’s executive vice president and chief administrative officer with responsibility for human resources, labor relations, corporate communications, sponsorships and events, corporate social responsibility and the Qwest Foundation. In this role, she was responsible for the renegotiation of contracts with Qwest’s two labor unions, which represent approximately 60 percent of the employee base, and numerous innovative health care initiatives resulting in multimillion-dollar cost savings.
Teresa also served as executive vice president for Qwest’s Wholesale business unit from 2002 to 2004 where she was responsible for $4 billion in sales, service and operations. In this role she grew the customer base and increased the overall profitability of the division.
From 2000 to 2002, Teresa served as executive vice president of Qwest’s products and pricing group, where she was responsible for the entire portfolio of products and services offered to consumer, retail business and wholesale customers. In this position, she accelerated the expansion of broadband services and introduced bundled services to the retail marketplace.
She also held a number of leadership positions with US WEST between 1988 and its merger with Qwest in 2000. Prior to that, she worked with several startup telecommunication companies.
Community and Public Affairs
Teresa resides in Denver, Colorado and is active in the community and public affairs of Colorado. She currently serves as an Executive Advisor to Governor Hickenlooper for the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, focused on statewide industry growth.In addition, Teresa serves on the Global Leadership Council for the Colorado State University – College of Business, The Colorado Technology Association and the Denver Botanic Gardens. Her past positions include the Colorado State Technology Institute , appointed by Governor Owens and the Colorado State Job Cabinet, appointed by Governor Ritter. She has also served on the boards of Colorado Children’s Campaign, Colorado Succeeds and Colorado Symphony Orchestra.
